About Me

I am a largely self-taught artist who first started to paint almost by accident after being given a few tubes of paint, a couple of brushes and a “how to” book by Alvin Crawshaw. After some ten years of ineffectual dabbling, I had the great good fortune to attend a demonstration given by Mike Skidmore. After another three years I plucked up the courage to attend his weekend portrait workshop, where I acquired the techniques I still rely on. That experience really marked the start of my painting career.
